The slippery ground is ‘free’ download links: many lead to malware-laden files or pirated discographies that hurt the artist. If you love something, support it on legal platforms or by buying on their Bandcamp. And before you share your own track in a group, be clear about your rights: posting someone else's music as your own is the fastest way to get banned.

Sharing your own music without spamming

If you produce, groups are a tempting shop window, but showing up and dropping your link in ten communities at once marks you as spam. It works far better to take part first: comment on other people's work, give honest feedback and, when you post your own, do it where it fits and while asking for opinions, not just ‘listen to this’. Take criticism without getting defensive; that's where the real value of a musicians' group lies, not in racking up plays.
