Study groups, language exchanges and exam-prep communities where people learning the same thing share material and answer each other's questions.
Studying alone is draining, which is why subject-specific study groups work so well, along with language-exchange rooms (a native corrects you and you correct theirs), communities of exam candidates swapping syllabi, and open-resource channels listing courses, scholarships and deadlines. Each covers a different stage of learning.
Not everything shared is useful. Check the date (a five-year-old exam syllabus may be out of date), whether answers come from people who genuinely know the subject, and whether the group separates original notes from un-credited copies. A group that cites textbooks and explains the why beats one that just drops solutions.
The biggest mistake is hoarding PDFs you never open. Ask specific questions, answer other people's (teaching cements what you've learned) and agree weekly goals with the group. Healthy peer pressure delivers more than any bulk download of files.
Sharing a copyrighted textbook PDF or selling leaked exams isn't studying — it risks penalties and, in official exams, disqualification. Lean on your own notes, public-domain resources and materials the author allows you to share. Learning ethically also trains you for the test itself.
In language rooms the mistake is staying silent for fear of getting it wrong: that's where no learning happens. Dive in and write even if you make errors, ask to be corrected and correct others tactfully. A reciprocal deal (half in your language, half in the one you're learning) works far better than asking for free lessons while giving nothing back. And avoid groups where people just flirt under the cover of ‘practice’; the good ones stay focused on the language and the culture, nothing else. Set a small routine too, a few messages a day beats a marathon once a month, and the corrections you give others will sharpen your own grammar more than you'd expect.
